Now Denial was born out of a basement in Lowell, MA in April of 2002. One month later, the band played it's first show, with many more to follow. In April of 2003, Tor Johnson Records put out Now Denial's first release, a 7" entitled Brothers Not Fighting. The following summer, the band embarked on a two-week tour through the mid-west, followed by sporadic shows around New England, and then a two-week winter tour on the east coast.
In April of 2004, the band hauled all of the equipment as well as a makeshift portable studio up to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Over the course of a weekend, Now Denial recorded 8 songs in a small cabin, with all of the equipment being powered by a gas-fueled generator. The result was the first full-length, Power to the Mountain, which was released on CD and LP (vinyl actually came with the CD as well) on Tor Johnson Records in June of 2004. The band then set out on a month-long tour spanning the country.
Throughout the rest of 2004 and 2005, the band focused on writing new material and playing shows around New England. In the summer of 2006, Now Denial recorded 9 songs in a basement studio in Lowell, with Phil Trudel. The recordings were later mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East in Cambridge, MA. The album, titled Facemelter, was all set except for the artwork. A combination of artwork-delays and band troubles set back the release of the album until 2008. Facemelter was released on CD by Tor Johnson Records in October of 2008. The vinyl was co-released by Gatehouse Anchor and Hi From Camp Icarus, and was released in February of 2009.
In January of 2009, the band faced another obstacle as long-time drummer and friend, John Fitzpatrick, was no longer able to be a part of Now Denial. After some discussion, there was unanimous agreement in asking Brian "Dino" Donovan to be a part of the band. Dino had previously played drums in Desert Sea, and more recently in Old People. Aside from that, he's a long-time friend of the band, so it was a very comfortable transition. The band recorded the "Fuck Now Denial" EP in July 2009, and it saw a release on a limited run of 250 CDs in March 2010.
